Why is my Nexon Game Card being converted to a different currency type when I redeem it?
Due to an update in our checkout system, redemption values are no longer calculated solely on the currency type used to purchase Nexon Game Cards. Instead, redemption values are based on the country/billing location registered to your Nexon account and the supported currency closest to your locale.
Example
If you purchase a $10 USD Nexon Game Card, and your Country Code/Billing Country is GB - United Kingdom, then $9.77 of the USD card is converted to a £7 GBP card before you redeem it for NX. (In this instance, $9.77 USD is the maximum amount allowed for conversion.)
Based on current conversion rates, you can redeem the £7 GBP card for 8,050 NX (1 GBP = 1150 NX; 7 GBP * 1150 NX = 8050 NX total).
Note: You never lose any currency remainder that is not converted, such as the $0.23 USD in the above example. Any remaining amount stays on your card as unused balance, which you can combine with another Nexon Game Card anytime using the Combine Your Card Balance tool on the official Nexon Game Card site.
If I can buy USD/EUR Nexon Game Cards, why can’t I just redeem them for NX in USD/EUR?
Previously, certain countries/regions were restricted to purchasing prepaid game cards (formerly called Karma Koin cards) using a specific currency type. For example, those in Israel could purchase only EUR cards.
While you can now purchase Nexon Game Cards in any available currency, the amount of NX you receive is established using a conversion rate between the card’s currency type and the supported currency closest to your locale.
Note: We maintain our NX conversion rates in accordance with local tax laws, regulations, and currency exchange rates, to help ensure that all players pay a fair purchase price.
Example #1
If you purchase a USD Nexon Game Card and your Country Code/Billing Country is France, then the supported currency closest to your locale is EUR, so your USD card is converted to EUR for NX redemption.
Example #2
If you purchase a EUR Nexon Game Card and your Country Code/Billing Country is France, then no currency conversion is required for NX redemption.
Example #3
If you purchase a CAD Nexon Game Card and your Country Code/Billing Country is Canada, then the supported currency closest to your locale is USD, so your CAD card is converted to USD for NX redemption.
Likewise, If you purchase an AUD or NZD Nexon Game Card and your Country Code/Billing Country is Australia or New Zealand, then the supported currency closest to your locale is EUR, so your AUD or NZD card is converted to EUR for NX redemption.
What currencies does Nexon support?

How can I redeem Nexon Game Cards for an NX amount that is not displayed on the Buy NX page?
To redeem Nexon Game Cards for an NX amount that is not displayed, choose any NX amount to go to the next page. Select Nexon Game Card as your payment method, and then enter your PIN. Your Nexon Game Card is displayed and you can now select to redeem the desired amount, not exceeding the full balance of the card.
Why am I getting less NX when redeeming my Nexon Game Card?
In early 2020, Nexon America adjusted NX price points to align with global economic changes and to promote fair pricing for players across all of our service regions. While this change went into effect and was announced at that time, the conversion rates were not actually enforced until mid-2021.
As a result, you will see a difference in the amount of NX received when making a purchase, regardless of the payment method.
Will I have to pay back the extra NX I received between the time the price point change went into effect and now?
No. As Nexon chose not to enforce this change until after other commerce systems were updated, any bonus NX gained during this time are yours to keep. However, all new purchases are subject to the price point change, so any unredeemed Nexon Game Card balances remaining are also affected.
Why did I get taxed when redeeming my Nexon Game Card for NX?
Nexon is legally required as a company to collect sales tax on monetary purchases from some states or provinces in the United States and Canada. This includes redeeming Nexon Game Cards to purchase NX from Nexon Home (Nexon.com) and Nexon Launcher.
Sales tax is calculated during checkout and the amount of NX you receive from the card is adjusted accordingly. Tax rates are based on your Billing Location and are set by your local government. Nexon has no control over tax rates.
To review our policy on the collection of sales tax, please see the Nexon Terms of Sale, specifically section 1.6 Sales Tax, which reads:
When and where required, Nexon or a third party payment processor acting on behalf of Nexon will collect sales tax on your behalf and remit payment to the applicable state government.
